NAC N-Acetyl Cysteine

$50

Related to cysteine but more water soluble, NAC (n-acetyl cysteine) is the precursor to glutathione, known as the body's master anti-oxidant. NAC is also a mucolytic agent as it reduces disulfide bonds in mucoproteins so can be helpful for breaking down mucus and congestion in the sinuses and lungs. NAC enhances antitumor responses via IL-2 & can help in detox and rebalancing after chemotherapy treatments. NAC is kept in emergency departments as an antidote for arsenic & acetaminophen (Tylenol) poisoning as it acts as a mild chelator of heavy metals. We consider NAC in targeting autoimmune disease, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), detoxification, mast cell dysfunction conditions and as part of beauty regimens. NAC can be added easily to most other recipes EXCEPT doesn't pair well with copper/zinc (trace minerals).

NAD Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide

$150

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) is a derivative of B3, niacin, and is a sort of metabolic jack-of-all-trades. It is active in chromosome (DNA) stability and repair, immune cell signaling, energy enzyme activity within mitochondria, neurotransmitter behavior, activates sirtuins for longevity, boosts metabolism while decreasing pain, inflammation, brain fog and fatigue, and can improve mood. NAD must go on its own (except okay with methylene blue) and is a very slow drip (1-8 hours), determined by your dose and tolerance level (which sometimes does improve over time with repeated dosing which can be daily if indicated). Research shows a pivotal role for NAD+-induced mitophagy in longevity and neuroprotection; NAD+ repletion repaired AD pathologies, and retained learning and memory in AD mice: (Fang et al., 2019a). There are no contraindications. It's a naturally occurring molecule in the body so also no drug-drug interaction. Use precautions with irregular HR. For larger dosing or for substance withdrawal, please see our medical IV recipes.

Glutathione

$50

Glutathione is described as the body's 'master antioxidant'. Glutathione is composed of 3 amino acids- cysteine, glycine and glutamine. It is involved in the synthesis and repair of DNA, amino acid transport and metabolism, the metabolism of toxins & carcinogens (cancer causing agents), immune function, activates enzymes and the prevention of oxidative stress damage. Cellular levels of glutathione increase during exercise. Glutathion supports protection against POPs (persistent organic chemicals meaning chemical pollution), alcohol, mercury and other toxic metals. Like ALA, glutathione regenerates antioxidant vitamins C and E to their reduced (aka active) forms. Glutathione is safe with liver disease ((no change on LFTs for pts with cirrhosis in research). We think of glutathione for addressing autoimmune diseases, Lyme disease, SIBO, neurogenic inflammation, Parkinson's, Multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, and ME/CFS. Glutathione is difficult to absorb orally (and tastes terrible)- the best chances are with liposomal formulations. It has a very short half life in an IV so the goal is to get it injected, let it do its thing, and then it vanishes. Care must be taken in glutamate and sulfur sensitivity conditions but otherwise, IV glutathione can be taken twice weekly for 8 weeks then re-evaluate.

Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA)

$50

Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a fatty acid and antioxidant found in every cell of humans, animals, and plants. ALA can decrease and prevent inflammation and decrease the impacts of oxidative stress by supporting repair cells and generating new cells. It is considered a mitochondrial nutrient which can help increase insulin sensitivity as well as glucose metabolism which turns into energy. ALA can be helpful in conditions including diabetes, diabetic neuropathy, obesity, chemotherapy-induced neuropathy, glaucoma, cancer, HIV/AIDS, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, alcoholic liver disease, multiple sclerosis, age related hearing loss, macular degeneration, cardiovascular disease, sepsis, COVID-19 related pneumonia, and heavy metal chelation. ALA can also reduce drug toxicity in chemotherapy, contrast, and acetaminophen (Tylenol) use.

Branched-Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs)

$50

BCAAs are the branched-chain amino acids that include leucine, iso-leucine and valine. They are 3 of the 9 essential amino acids that are necessary to find outside the body in the food and have increased oxidation with exercise. Adding BCAAs can be both preparatory for increased exercise tolerance and also to support post-exercise recovery. Research shows benefit especially for elders and those with sarcopenia or muscle wasting/ muscle loss, which is a common result of malabsorption disorders like celiac disease and complex/ chronic disease states like chronic fatigue syndromes (ME/CFS). A 2017 review of eight studies found BCAA may support reduced soreness & post-exercise muscle breakdown, and improve muscle recovery.

Trace Minerals

$50

This trace minerals package includes zinc, copper, manganese, chromium and selenium. These minerals act as co-factors for many different aspects of our metabolism including immunity. By adding them in an IV, we are able to by-pass the gut absorption for 100% bioavailability. There are no contraindications and they can go with any recipe. They must run in over at least 15 minutes.

Taurine

$50

Described as having an 'unusual' amount of regulatory behavior in the body, the sulfur-based semi-essential amino acid taurine, which was first identified as a component of bile acid in 1827, is now known to counter oxidative stress and impact neurotransmitter activity including GABA (up), glutamate (down) and acetylcholine (up). Taurine has also demonstrated clinically protective roles against anxiety, depression, stroke, epilepsy, chemical-mediated neuronal injury, developmental disorders in childhood, arsenic toxicity, ADHD, sleep-wake disorders and mitochondrial activity in energy production. We also know it is poorly absorbed through the gut lining so IV therapy is particularly desirable.

Methylene Blue

$150

The first PubMed research entry on Methylene Blue is from 1892 but there are now over 24,000 articles in PubMed- including 1,736 published in just the last one year and it has maintained its place on the World Health Organization's list of Essential Medications. Originally used as a dye for cell staining and then to treat malaria in the 1890's, MB was found to treat methemeglobinemia, and has had a resurgence in interest since its mitochondrial impact has been elucidated and celebrated in recent years as it can carry electrons and by-pass parts of the electron transport chain. MB has documented impacts on memory, reduced skin aging and improved wound healing, can contribute to some dopamineric neuron conservation in Parkinson's patients, and has some impact on patients with a genetic premature aging disorder called Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS). Much of this research is still in process, but what is clear is that there is a 120-year safety profile and there's some mitochondrial impact, which sits as a unifying foundation for so many different disorders. You will urinate blue x 2-3 days.

Glycyrrhizic Acid

$50

Glycyrrhizic acid (GA) is a derivative of licorice root and one of the most commonly used herbs in both Chinese & Ayurvedic medicine. Research literature documents its activity to be anti-viral, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, antimicrobial and protective for the liver. We have glycyrrhizic acid in our ImmunoLove IV, but it can be added to other recipes to add some protection against inflammation including oxidative stress.

GA is contraindicated with pregnancy and should be used cautiously with uncontrolled high blood pressure.

Cerebrolysin® Neuropeptide

$50

Cerebrolysin is a peptide composed of neurotrophic factors (signaling molecules) from a porcine (pig) source to amplify natural neuroprotective, neuroregenerative and motor/cognitive activity recovery after injury, acute and chronic. Research supports its therapeutic benefit in those with traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and vascular dementia.

  • Intravenous Therapy (IV Therapy) has been used since ancient times (in Western medicine since the 1600's. It involves using a needle to access a vein, typically in the crook of your arm, and infusing one nutrient or a combination of nutrients directly into your blood stream. It is commonly used for delivering medications and fluids for rehydration in medical situations. We also offer injections which is a needle that injects medication or nutrients into a muscle for direct but slightly slower absorption.

At NeuroVeda Health, we start with only the highest quality, pharmaceutically-produced products. As some of these nutrients can be light-sensitive or degrade easily with temperature changes, we vigilantly maintain the right conditions to ensure their potency. Dr Gillian Ehrlich, DNP, ARNP, is certified in integrative medicine through the Institute of Functional Medicine and has further certification in IV Therapy through A4M. She has personally designed our recipes. Our MitoBoost for mitochondrial energy and chronic illness support was designed by board-certified integrative neurologist MD Ilene Ruhoy. We also can customize recipes to address any acute needs at the time of your service.

We recognize that IV Therapy is one part of a whole health plan. We are, of course, designed to eat and digest food. In our modern world, we are exposed to unique modern stressors like some of the 80,000 pollutants that have been released into the environment since World War II and the advent of lights and screens that change the Circadian detox rhythms of our cells and those of our microbiome. These challenges call for innovative solutions. Ayurveda defines chikitsa, treatment, as anything that effects a healing change. IV Therapy can play a distinct role in impacting our health for good, encouraging an overall shift for optimizing our physiology over time. Please check out our other treatments and services for putting together a whole health plan for yourself.

  • If you are an established patient at our clinic, you can request an IV appointment through your portal [LINK].

If you haven't yet been seen in our IV Lounge or Clinic, please fill out our inquiry form [LINK] to initiate scheduling.

**Please note, there are a few contraindications for IV Therapy. You are welcome to review this list and our practitioners will review with you at your first service and review annually. You may not receive IV Therapy if you have kidney failure and/or are on dialysis or have congestive heart failure. You may not receive any ingredients to which you have a known allergy. We will decide on a case by case basis if you are appropriate for IV Therapy if you have poorly-controlled high blood pressure, a seizure disorder, cardiac arrhythmia (irregular heart beat) or nephrolithiasis (kidney stones). To receive Vitamin C doses higher than 10 grams, you must have a G6PD negative test on file. If you have had this before, you can upload this documentation to your portal or bring documentation to your appointment. We can place the order to have it drawn as well for future ongoing treatments.
